Withdrawal Deadline – TOMORROW!

This is a reminder that tomorrow, October 22, is the last day to withdraw from a Fall 2013 course.  If you are currently in good academic standing (not on Academic Warning or Probation) and do not have any holds on your account that would prevent making changes to your roster (ex. a financial hold) you can withdraw via Self-Service Banner (SSB) by following these steps.

1.     Click on the Student button.

2.     Click on the Registration button.

3.     Click on the Add or Drop Classes button.

4.     Select Fall 2013.

5.     Click the yellow Submit button.

6.     Under the action column select Withdrawal next to the class you would like to withdraw from.

7.     Click the yellow Submit Changes button.

8.     The status next to the class you withdrew from should now have changed to Withdrawn.

If you are unable to withdraw on your own due to being on Academic Warning, on Academic Probation or have questions about withdrawing before you withdraw, SMC Academic Advisors will be available for Express Advising on Tuesday October 22, 2013 from 9AM to 4:30PM to help you out.

If you have a hold on your account that prevents making registration changes you will need to have the hold removed before either you or a SMC Academic Advisor can process a withdrawal request. You can view any holds you have under the Student Accounts button on SSB.

Please keep in mind that a withdrawal can impact you in several ways, including the following:

-       Students remain financially responsible for all withdrawn courses

-       A withdrawal counts as one attempt; attempts are limited to two per course (possibly a maximum of three, with Temple permission)

-       A withdrawal is recorded on your transcript with the notation of “W

-       International Students: a withdrawal can affect your visa status; please contact your international services advisor prior to withdrawing

-       Student Athletes: a withdrawal can impact your eligibility; please contact your athletic advisor prior to withdrawing

For the full withdrawal policy, visit http://policies.temple.edu/PDF/260.pdf .

Please note that you should contact your instructor immediately if you have any uncertainty about your current standing in a course. If you have questions about the withdrawal process or how a course withdrawal may impact you, please come in during the Express Advising hours listed above on October 22, 2013.
